What's up with the Pig?  

Truffle pigs date back to the Roman Empire and were specifically trained to locate by smell, the valuable but difficult to find truffle. Truffle pigs that could locate the gourmet food item without damaging (or eating) them were worth their weight in gold. 

Today, Diglet is also in the business of helping sniff out valuable underground resources that need to be located- without being disturbed.
